Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, SAN, the Asagba of Asaba, Delta State, is currently meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The first-class monarch attended the meeting with a number of royal fathers, who are believed to be members of the Obi-in-Council.

The visit comes after Rivers State was declared a state of emergency by President Tinubu, which has heightened tensions in some parts of the South-South geopolitical zone.

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, his deputy, and every member of the state House of Assembly were suspended for a first six months as a result of the declaration.

In order to further establish control over the area during this time, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency and named Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, as the only administrator for Rivers State.

On August 26, 2024, Professor Azinge, the 14th Asagba of Asaba, was crowned Obi and took office.

On Thursday, Ibas, Rivers State’s only administrator, assumed office at the Rivers Government House.
